Supporting Afghan returnee families to rebuild their lives with safety, dignity and hope.
Afghan families returning after years of displacement need immediate assistance, protection, essential services and sustainable opportunities to rebuild their lives.
Welcome Home with Dignity: For thousands of Afghan families, returning home is not the end of displacement-it is the beginning of another difficult journey.
Many returnees arrive after sudden and exhausting travel with few belongings, limited financial resources and no secure place to live. Families may struggle to obtain civil documentation, enroll their children in school, access healthcare, find employment or meet their most basic needs. Children, women, older people, persons with disabilities and female-headed households face particularly serious protection risks.
Afghanistan is experiencing exceptionally high return movements. UNHCR and IOM reported hundreds of thousands of returns during 2026, while humanitarian agencies have highlighted the immediate needs of families arriving through border points, including Islam Qala in Herat and Milak in Nimroz.
RWDOA’s Welcome Home with Dignity campaign will support vulnerable returnee families as they move from arrival to recovery and sustainable reintegration.
What this campaign will provide
- Immediate cash and essential household assistance
- Food, hygiene materials, clothing and emergency supplies

- Civil documentation and legal assistance

Our objective
To help returnee families move beyond immediate survival and rebuild safe, independent and dignified lives within their communities.
Sustainable return requires more than crossing a border. Families need access to housing, education, healthcare, employment, documentation and equal participation in community life.
Your support can help a family begin again
A contribution to this campaign can provide a family with emergency assistance, help a child return to education, support a woman to establish a small business or help a returnee obtain the documentation needed to access essential services.
Welcome them home not only with assistance, but with dignity, opportunity and hope.
